‘Onion News Network’ Season 2 Premieres Tonight Just In Time For The End Of The World
You either love The Onion or you hate it. Their humor is caustic and unlimited, and their reach through print, TV, online, books, and DVDs is almost as boundless. When the television version “The Onion News Network” debuted last year on IFC, I was skeptical. But after one year, and the premiere of the second season the other night, I’m convinced it’s the funniest show on TV- perhaps the funniest since “Mystery Science Theater 3000″, though “Commercial Kings” with Rhett and Link give it a good run.
This says as much about IFC as it does about the quality of its comedy programs. They are clearly in touch with their audience, deliver quality, and promise to continue to do so. There’s are only a few networks that do that: among them is Fox News. Ironically, they are exactly who The Onion News Network is lampooning: not just Fox News but their audience as well. Coincidence?
