Is Your Hardware Bugged? If It’s from China, It Might Be

China may be rigging its electronics, hardware and other products with “logic bombs”, Trojan horses, trapdoors, and other cyberbugs to help them steal information from American companies and governments. Former administration security advisor Richard Clarke said in Smithsonian magazine that he fears the U.S. will lose its competitive edge because of “research and development stolen by the Chinese,” as “company after company in the United States spends millions, hundreds of millions, in some cases billions of dollars on R&D and that information goes free to China.”

If we didn’t have enough reasons to stop buying Chinese stuff before, this one may be the best yet. I wonder how WalMart- the world’s leading distributor of China’s crap- is going to handle this one.
