Tibet Olympic Protests: San Francisco, Utah Resurrect America’s Image as Defender of Freedom

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ken Schreiner @ 8:07 am

The protests against the Olympic torch have brought the brutality of the Chinese government to light as never before. And surprisingly, the demonstrations in San Francisco made me feel proud to be an American: the first time I’ve been able to say that since 9/11. Utah’s Tibetan community was well represented in San Francisco and the Olympic controversy has been featured on local radio talk shows and even the local NBC affiliate KSL- the Mormon-owned TV station carrying the Olympic Games in August.

Funny how the president, his war and inept administration failed to make me feel proud to be an American again while my friends, neighbors and even the local Olympic TV station did. What does that say about Bush, China and the global corporate media?
